Flowers can really add a lot of appeal to any landscape.
Choosing the right heights and colors and knowing which plants will thrive in what areas of your garden are important factors. You need to know how much sunlight, shade, water, and fertilizer they need.
WoodChucker’s Landscaping Mulch & More is the perfect partner to help create a new bed, get rid of an old bed and replace it with sod or seed, or revive an existing bed that you’re just tired of looking at.
Some people want a bed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Others want a bed to repel insects or critters. Whatever you choose, we can help you make the right choices in your flower beds.
Another consideration when creating a flower bed, is what kind of edging do you prefer? Some people prefer a more natural bed edge. We will create a wonderful, natural edge.
Our machine digs down about 4″, so it is recommended that you call “811”(Digger’s Hotline) about 1 week before our arrival so that they can mark your lawn, so we don’t accidentally hit something important. It is also helpful if you know where your low voltage lighting lines are and cable lines and such so we don’t accidentally hit those either. A natural bed edge is a great way to define your flower beds and mulched areas. It does usually need to be redone after 2-3 years. But the impact is has is great.
You may choose a plastic bed edge, a natural wood edge, like railroad ties, or you may prefer block or stone. Whichever edge strikes your fancy, WoodChucker’s Landscaping Mulch & More has had plenty of experience with it and would love the opportunity to help you make the right choice for you. Each one of these methods of edging has pros and cons and we would love to educate you during this process.
Once you decide on the size and shape and what kind of edge you prefer for your flower bed, the next thing we need to do is to decide if you want to add some kind of weed barrier. Some folks prefer to use newspapers or old mail, while others prefer a landscape fabric and some prefer no weed barrier at all. One thing to keep in mind, should you add a weed barrier, it does make it a bit harder to add new plants, as you have to get beyond the barrier in order to put the plant in soil. Another thing to realize is that the weed barrier does not last “forever”. Weeds will definitely make it beyond the weed barrier in time.
Last but not least, it is time to plant! WoodChucker’s Landscaping Mulch & More can help you plant or transplant flowers, move bushes, remove bushes and take what you already have and make it feel like “new” or we can help you create a whole new “vibe” for your garden. It is completely up to you.
